THE HISTORIC AIRMEN MEMORIAL BUILDING - 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
We plan to commemorate and celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Airmen Memorial Building (AMB) and do so with the upmost respect to all those that have come before us. We are truly building on the shoulders of those great pioneers that visualized an AFSA for all — an AFSA forever. At the end of the day, the International Headquarters, the International Executive Council, and the Divisions and Chapters each continue to deliver “Hot Fries” ... because of the ones that will come after us.
The quest for a better Quality of Life never ceases. The AFSA will continue to legislate, educate, advocate decision-makers throughout the halls of Congress, on Capitol Hill, within the Pentagon, Veterans Affairs, and the White House — delivering the message that a steadfast, laser focus on Quality of Life for our Uniformed Service members strengthen our readiness and posture; allows us to execute our National Defense Strategy; and remain ever committed to the promise made to those that have borne the battle, and their families. During the formal Anniversary Celebrations of the AMB beginning in March 2020 and continuing through the 60th Anniversary of the AFSA, your International Headquarters will compile an historical book, entitled “The AFSA Legacy Book”. How can I help? Glad you asked. We are asking all 125 chapters to prepare a two-page historical reflection of your chapter. We are asking all 7 divisions to prepare a four-page historical reflection of your division. We are asking each member of the Executive Council to prepare a one-page letter of encouragement to the year of 2061. We ask that you download the appropriate form (Buttons on the right) to use the suggested format. In addition, we are asking each division and chapter to provide to the Headquarters a division/chapter coin. The coins and the “AFSA Legacy Book” will play a major role during the formal ceremonies in March. The coin will be proudly displayed in the lobby of the AMB for everyone that enters to see. The “AFSA Legacy Book” will serve as the centerpiece of the 40th Anniversary of the Airmen Memorial Building. Only one copy of the “Legacy Book” will be printed, and that copy will be secured in a time-capsule. The time-capsule will be opened in May of 2061 during the AFSA 100th Anniversary Ceremony. We are excited about this initiative and the legacy that we will leave to the ones that will come after us. We look forward to your participation and submissions. Imagine what AFSA will look like in 2061. Help us deliver this Legacy to our future. Sincerely, KEITH A. REED AFSA Executive Director |

HELP PROTECT OUR HOME: SUPPORT THE AIRMEN MEMORIAL BUILDING FUND
The Airmen Memorial Building (AMB), located near our Nation’s Capital is home to the Air Force Sergeants Association. AFSA represents active-duty, retired and Veteran military members and their families in Congress, the DoD, the Veterans Administration and through local communities across the globe. AFSA is a non-profit, politically non-partisan United States Armed Forces Veterans Service Organization. Built in 1980, the Airmen Memorial Building is a fitting tribute to all past, present, and future Airmen. In honor of our building’s 40th Anniversary, AFSA invites you to help protect, maintain and enhance AFSA headquarters by sponsoring a leaf on our AMB Benefactor Tree. Your tax-deductible donation (Tax ID#520743333) is a permanent symbol, and unwavering reminder of how you helped support and continue our success. Each leaf recognizing you, your family, loved ones, your group or business will be permanently and prominently displayed on our beautiful AMB Benefactor Tree at the entrance of the Airmen Memorial Building at 5211 Auth Road in Suitland, Maryland. Each Leaf is a minimum donation of $1,200 (payment plan available: $100 per month/12 months) and may be personalized with a name, dates or service or special date, memorial tribute, the name of your company, or a special message of your choosing. |
